Four Tasmanian Trampoline gymnasts have been selected to represent Australia at the 2010 Indo-Pacific Trampoline Sports Championships being held in Kakegawa, Japan from the 29 June- 3 July. Five countries will compete at these Championships including athletes from Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia. All four gymnasts warmed up their routines at the State Age and Elite Championships which were held at Eastside Trampoline Club last weekend. TIS Scholarship holder and 2008 Indo-Pacific Champion, Jack Penny, will defend his title in the Senior International Men’s Double-Mini event. Jack has also been selected to compete in the Senior International Men’s Individual Trampoline, as well as the Synchronised Trampoline. Tasmanian junior gymnasts, Aidan Collins, Hugh McConnell, and Hugh Ross will also compete at the Indo-Pacific Championships. Collins and McConnell will contest the Under 15 Men’s Individual and Double-Mini events in Japan, teaming up for the Under 15 Men’s Synchronised division. Making his international debut, Hugh Ross will compete in the 17 years and over Double-Mini Trampoline. Tasmanian officials travelling with the Australian team are: Ben Kelly as DMT coach, Leigh Oswin as DMT Judge and Jo Penny as Chaperone to the athletes.
